DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING It is the intention of the Department of CIVIL ENGINEERING to: Produce young engineers with a strong background in structural design and experience in construction planning and management. Conduct study and research into developing new materials and technology in construction. To archive these goals, the curriculum concentrates on two areas: Civil Engineering, comprising theorotical study in structural design and analysis along with laboratory experimentation and training at construction sites. Construction Engineering, comprising planning and managing materials, labour, equipment and financial aspects. The Department encourages the staff and students to undertake research work.Research studies mainly involve development of new and practical construction materials, and computer software for use in construction management and construction cost estimination. In addition, the Department is also available for public services such as materials testing and certification. Staff are also involved in giving seminars and providing consultancy on construction projects.
